Tripo AI, a generative 3D company founded in 2023, said on September 1, 2026 that it had closed Series B and Series B+ funding rounds totaling about 3 billion yuan, roughly $446 million. The raise was led by investment firm MPCi and arrives alongside the preview launch of Tripo P2.0, a new foundation model the company describes as the first in the industry to generate quad topology meshes directly.
What Tripo AI plans to do with the funding
According to the company, the capital will go toward expanding its 3D-native foundation models and underlying 3D data infrastructure, scaling up the computing power needed for training and running its AI systems, and pushing forward product development and commercial rollout.
The investor roster spans strategic, industry and financial backers. Strategic and industry investors named include Perfect World, BlueFocus, SPC, Yanqu Games, ThunderSoft and 37 Interactive Entertainment. Financial investors in the round include CDH Venture and Growth Capital, China International Capital Corporation (CICC), CMC Capital Partners, Hongtai Aplus, 3H Health, Zhongping Capital and GreatOrigin Asia. A group of existing backers, among them Fortune Capital, Primavera Capital, 4399 Network, Muhua Tech Ventures, Vitalbridge Capital, INCE Capital and T-Capital, also added to their existing stakes.
The size of the raise puts Tripo AI in the same league as rival Meshy AI, which pulled in close to $400 million in its own Series B round earlier in 2026, a sign that investor appetite for generative 3D tools remains strong.
Tripo P2.0 and its quad topology breakthrough
The technical centerpiece of the announcement is Tripo P2.0, which the company says can output clean quad meshes with more natural edge flow rather than the triangle-based meshes typical of AI-generated 3D assets. Tripo AI called it “a first for the industry.”
That distinction matters for downstream work: quad-based meshes are generally easier to edit, rig and animate than triangulated ones, which is why they remain the standard for hero characters and props in games and film production. Tripo’s triangle topology output already scales up to 50,000 faces, while the new quad topology tops out at 25,000 faces, a range the company says is sufficient for most props and character models used in production pipelines.
The company positions P2.0 as suited to generating rigging and animation-ready game assets, and more broadly to producing finished 3D objects within seconds. Tripo AI’s existing product lineup, including Tripo Studio and the Tripo API, is aimed at customers in manufacturing, virtual reality, interactive entertainment and embodied AI.
No date has been given for a full, non-preview release of Tripo P2.0, and the company has not detailed further product milestones beyond the funding-fueled expansion of its computing and data infrastructure.
